En Garde! Fencers' Club meets on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:00pm at Lake Kawana Community Centre, Sportsmen's Pde, Bokarina. The Club provides group footwork, competition fencing and individual tuition. The electrical scoring apparatus is available for those with their own personal equipment. Costs: Floor Fee $100/term or $15/night. Tunisian fencer Besbas Azzah refused to face her Israeli counterpart Naomi Mills at the World Fencing Championships, citing her support for the Palestinian case. The sports website Koora said Azzah, the African champion and 2008 Olympic semi-finalist, would give up on her dream to win the gold medal by withdrawing from the final. She reportedly came up to the piste and did not defend herself, suffering five hits from Mills, who was declared the champion. Mills then collapsed in tears, according to Koora. For more click

En Garde! The serious fencers' training diary is an essential tool for every serious-minded competition fencer. En Garde! The serious fencers' training diary is a yearly training program and daily diary that incorporates the physiological, technical, psychological and tactical components of fencing training and competition bouting. The serious-minded fencer will soon learn to design a personal training routine that physically and mentally prepares them for competition fencing. For the fencing coach En Garde! The serious fencers' training diary brings the theory /general coaching principles to the sport-specific skills. Physiologically it addresses training the fencing-specific energy supply systems, strength, flexibility and testing protocol along with performance goals and measurable standards. Bio-mechanically it addresses the performance efficiency of fencing technique and psychologically covers the mental skills required to enhance tactical competition performance.
