to Fencing Online, your
internet access to a
myriad of information provided free to the fencing community by the
Australian Academy of Fencing and Salle En Garde! Fencers'
Clubs. At the
Australian Academy of Fencing you will find all that you want to know about learning
to teach fencing, both sport & recreation and artistic performance. The Australian Academy of Fencing is Australia's National Industry Training Provider for Fencing.
Our focus is in the pursuit of excellence and our specialty is
in providing the fencing pedagogy for the fencer, instructor and coach.
Having set the industry standards and competencies, the AAF now delivers
the training courses, assesses competencies and issues
professional industry licenses (fencer, instructor, coach, prévost
and maître
d'armes). Our qualifications are recognized both nationally
complying with the Australian Qualifications Framework and
internationally with affiliation of the Académie
d'Armes Internationale. As you browse though you will soon discover the fascination of fencing in
all it's forms, as an Olympic sport, a health & fitness recreation or an
artistic performance. As an Olympic sport, Fencing was one of the original sports of the modern Olympic Games and up until Mark Spitz at the Munich Olympic Games of 1972 set the
current record for the most gold medals won at an Olympic Games it was held by a Fencer, Nedo Nadi who at the 1920 Games won a total of 5 gold medals
at a time when there were only 6 events to contest.
As a
health and fitness recreation - well, what a better way is there to get
fit than to be having fun playing at swordfighting, Experiencing first
hand, the excitement of the duel while playing one of the safest sports
or recreational activities there is - now how kool is that?. And, as an Artistic performance,
well fencing does provide the basis of all the sword fighting you've
ever see in the Performing Arts. It is interesting to note
that in this area of artistic performance, there are a lot of people
that know a lot about swords but very few of them, if any, know even a
little, let alone a lot, about fencing. Get Active ....... Get En Garde! and Get Fencing .... for Life.

AUSTRALIAN ACADEMY OF FENCING |

How
well you learn and your potential in fencing is determined by the
quality of instruction you receive. Arguably the most important
aspect of fencing education must be the quality of teaching. The primary concern of the Australian Academy of Fencing is to provide the highest level of fencing education (how to fence) and pedagogy (how to teach fencing) to the Sport, Recreation and the Performing Arts Industry. Over the last 3 decades, a number of Fencing Masters have contributed to the development of the En Garde! Fencing program. It is a progressively tiered, skill-goal oriented
program that teaches the concepts of fencing by reinforcing the
feelings and sensations associated with quality performance. It is simply, if you put in the right ingredients you can expect the right results. Fencers who are taught in this manner can expect to experience significant skill improvement as they progress through the various levels of competency.
